Welcome to Women's Pelvic Health We specialize in helping women understand their choice and treatment options for their gynecological health. Building upon an extended and successful career as an obstetrician-gynecologist, my practice is focused on the new specialty area called "Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. Often we are simply referred to as "urogynecologists." We provide state-of-the art medical care and minimally invasive surgery for repair of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, congenital malformations and injuries of the birth canal, fistulas and fibroid tumors of the uterus. These conditions (also called dropped bladder, uterine prolapse, cystocele, rectocele, enterocele) may require a combination of medical and/or surgical treatments. It is our practice to see women in consultation, take a comprehensive history, do a physical examination and only when necessary recommend additional diagnostic studies such as ultrasound, MRI, or urodynamics. The initial consult concludes with a discussion with the patient and her family members (support group, partner) of the diagnosis, the risks and benefits of her medical and/or surgical treatment options. Our experience has shown that these treatments often have a very beneficial effect in helping to restore quality of life. Robert F.
